Investing in Apartments

In the past 18 months, people have watched the stock market volatility closely.  Many watched years of investment value simply vanish before their eyes.  Yes the market is recovering and will likely continue to do so but how long will that take and what faith do you have that there won't be another meltdown?

There is a growing trend of investors that are looking for stable returns with lower risk/volatility.  To the surprise of many, they're finding that stability in the apartment market.

If you think about it, it shouldn't come as a surprise that apartments make for a good investment.  People don't move just because the economy has turned for the worse (in fact, this encourages people not to move).  Most people who own apartment buildings or had/have their money in private companies that own apartment buildings came out of the recession relatively unscathed.  In fact, many saw impressive returns while smiling the whole time and sleeping well at night.

Over the coming weeks and months, we are going to take an indepth look at the apartment industry as an investment opportunity.  We're going to look at specific markets, types of buildings to consider, rates of return and more.  We're also going to study some of the companies that specialize in apartments, explain how their investment works, their historical returns and interview the people at the helm.
